1272670294 19 $15000 Krell Evolution 555 Blu Ray Player

That is not an extra zero added by mistake: $15,000 is Krell’s asking price for its Evolution 555 Blu-Ray player, which is shipping soon. While 15-grand is a colossal sum, Krell’s player is likely the most advanced in the world –there is an HDMI 1.4 transmitter installed, and “the the Sigma VXP video processor is located on a plug-in card for in-field upgrade to HDMI 1.4 with full support for 3D and 4K x 2K Resolution.”

Krell is synonymous with hi-fi. Where most high-end audio manufacturers have failed with Blu-Ray and video players, Krell looks to have succeeded. Instead of just using a cheap, common transport and then upgrading an existing Blu-Ray machine by replacing some of the innards, Krell’s 555 gives its customers some new technology not found among inexpensive alternatives. For one thing, it has dual HDMI outputs (with each one capable of feeding just audio and the other video) that are upgradable to HDMI 1.4, 1Gb onboard storage, ethernet, wireless N (optional), and naturally, the audio section is world class, with 32-bit Sabre Reference DACs and Krell’s famous sound. The sound quality alone should be quite stellar, but the 555 is for video/audiophiles who have $100,000 plus home theater systems.
