If you’re looking for ways to create longer eyelashes, you’ve probably noticed a whole bunch of products that promise to help you do that.

The experts agree: Curled lashes are a fast and easy eye-opener.

“They’re also more youthful,” said Paige Padgett, an L.A.-based makeup artist

The Good Housekeeping Research Institute tested six traditional eyelash curlers and the heated models to find the best performers.

In the lab, a professional photographer took photos of volunteers’ eyelashes from three angles before, immediately after, and four hours following the use of each curler and a leading mascara. Experts then measured the angle of lashes in the before and after photos to determine how much curl the tools produced. Panelists also tried their curlers at home for a week

The Laura Mercier Eyelash Curler ($16, Nordstrom), earned the highest lab score for its ability to increase upturn by a whopping 149 percent on average. Testers also gave it points for quickly curling all lashes.

“I never want to use another curler as long as I live. My mom thought I was wearing false lashes!” said one tester.

The E.L.F. Studio Eyelash Curler ($3, eyeslipsface.com) was the runner-up, boosting bend up to 135 percent on average and scoring points with volunteers for ease of use.

Of the heated bunch, Sephora Mini Heated Eyelash Curler ($12, Sephora) came out on top, curling lashes by 123 percent on average without pinching lids or tugging at hairs.
